Former NYT writer Bari Weiss says NY Times editors live in 'total' fear of an internet mob' in first episode of the anti-cancel culture podcast she launched after quitting the paper
'How did I go from writing and editing at the opinion pages of The New York Times to striking out on my own? Well, the tedious version of the story involves Slack channels with axe and guillotine emojis and bullying in full view of the people in charge of the paper. It involves activist journalists who treat the paper like a high school cafeteria, where those they deem problematic just can't sit here. Most tragically, it involves editors who live in total fear of internet mobs. Publishers who know what's right but can't seem to find the courage to do it. Read here.

The immigrant owner of a grocery chain in Minneapolis has spoken out against cancel culture after his business was attacked last summer over racist tweets his daughter made as a teenager. (His daughter has apologized profusely - but it’s never enough for the mob).
Majdi Wadi, the founder and CEO of Holy Land brands, had to lay off 69 longtime employees last summer after furious social media backlash over his daughter Lianne's tweets from 2012, he revealed on Bari Weiss' new podcast. Weiss, the former New York Times op-ed editor who quit the paper last year citing woke bullying, dubbed the incident a prime example of 'America's cultural revolution' on the first episode of her podcast series Honestly. Insane (and unconstitutional): LA Times Writer: Real Estate Listings Should Report Neighbors Who Own Guns
Virginia Heffernan made headlines in February for a column likening Trump supporters to the terrorist group Hezbollah and Nazis. The basis for her piece was her bizarre anger over a conservative neighbor who was kind enough to plow the snow from her driveway. “Loving your neighbor is evidently much easier when your neighborhood is full of people just like you,” Heffernan wrote. While the left-leaning columnist seeks to doxx those who exercise their Second Amendment rights, it is unclear how her idea would help define a “good” or “bad” neighborhood. A widely-cited Justice Department report from 2019 found 90 percent of guns used in crime are obtained illegally. Read here.
From the Border is closed file: Asylum Seekers Say Biden Border Camps Rife With Crime And Kidnappings, Child Migrants Living In ‘Neglect, Filth, And Fear’
Speaking to NBC News, a volunteer who helps to handle child welfare and education issues in a massive border camp that has cropped up just across the border from McAllen, Texas, says that residents, who are waiting their turn in front of an American immigration court, live in fear of drug gangs and cartels that seem to operate with impunity. The gang members and cartels“ come into the plaza,” Felicia Rangel-Samponaro told the network. “They drag a person away. You hear the person screaming for help. Everyone stands around and watches, which is understandable. No one wants to die.” Rangel-Samponaro told NBC that “two weeks ago at least six people were kidnapped from the plaza.” Read here.
Glenn Greenwald: Yet Another Media Tale -- Trump Tear-Gassed Protesters For a Church Photo Op -- Collapses
A report released Wednesday by Mark Greenblatt, the Interior Department inspector general, determined that Park Police were given permission to and carried out clearing the park long before anyone knew the former president had plans to walk over. In fact, the park was being cleared so that anti-scale fencing could be installed following riots on May 30-31, Greenblatt wrote according to NBC News.
Over and over we see the central truth: the corporate outlets that most loudly and shrilly denounce “disinformation” — to the point of demanding online censorship and de-platforming in the name of combating it — are, in fact, the ones who spread disinformation most frequently and destructively. It is hard to count how many times they have spread major fake stories in the Trump years. For that reason, they have nobody but themselves to blame for the utter collapse in trust and faith on the part of the public, which has rightfully concluded they cannot and should not be believed. ‘Sick Of Westie Whites’: Two Public School Officials Resign Over Texts Disparaging White People
Boston School Committee Member Lorna Rivera resigned Friday before the text messages from a conversation with the committee’s chair Alexandra Oliver-Dávila were about to be made public, according to the Boston Globe. “Sick of Westie whites,” Rivera reportedly texted during an October meeting, referring to the West Roxbury neighborhood of Boston. The meeting was focusing on a proposal to temporarily eliminate the admissions test for the city’s exam schools, and instead use grades, zip codes and other scores for admissions. Oliver-Dávila agreed with Rivera, responding “Me too. I really feel like saying that.” Read here.
Chaotic Video Shows Bystanders Taunting Cops As They Struggle To Control Armed Suspect, Democrat Mayor Scolds Officers (no wonder cops are leaving in droves)
In the video, taken and posted online by a bystander (view below), officers can be heard yelling at bystanders to back up, noting that the male suspect they are battling to the ground, who was wanted for multiple felonies, has a gun. As officers use force to restrain the suspect to the ground, bystanders continuously walk toward the scuffle and yell at officers for “choking” the man and hurl other insults, like, “s*** my d***,” and “y’all a piece of s***.” One or more of the bystanders also tell a black officer, “you’re black,” as he tries to backup the bystanders. Elite NYC Middle School Tries To Remove Advanced Math Classes, Sparks Parent Outrage
An elite New York City Middle School attempted to remove its advanced math classes, sparking outrage among parents.
Maggie Feurtado, the former educator who created the advanced math placement test and curriculum, told the New York Post that she was “simply appalled” by the school’s decision. “This is all in the name of equity. And it’s likely coming from above,” Feurtado said. “But it’s misguided. Having everyone in the same class hurts everybody.” Read here.
NYC Prep School Parents Deploy Mobile Billboards Outside Schools Protesting Curriculum
“We’re focused on New York City but people are finding out that it’s everywhere. The problem is that even though most private school parents consider themselves liberal Democrats, you only read about this stuff in conservative media,” he added. “Until it crosses into all media, a lot of people will still be in the dark or they’ll think it’s all some exaggeration. It’s all over the place.”
“Everyone is still deathly afraid of speaking publicly,” a private school parent told the Post. “They’re scared to even talk to their friends. What middle-aged white guy working in a bank would dare speak out? They’d be fired tomorrow.” Read here.
EXCLUSIVE: Hunter Biden addressed his white lawyer as 'n***a' multiple times, used phrases like 'true dat n***a' and bantered 'I only love you because you're black,' in shocking texts unearthed days after Joe's emotional Tulsa speech decrying racism
The shocking texts may prove embarrassing for his father President Joe Biden, who just last week gave a speech decrying racism on the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa massacre, and has sought to portray racial justice as a top priority for his administration.
The president's son joked in a January 2019 text to corporate attorney George Mesires about a 'big penis', and said to the lawyer: 'I only love you because you're black' and 'true dat n***a'. Read here.
